Meet the Buyer October 14th th 2008 - Meet The Buyer Event
  Meet the Buyer Networking Event Tuesday 14th October 2008 from 9.30am, at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Limerick Complimentary Buyer Breakfast from 8.00am Day will include Refreshments and Lunch. You are welcome to attend at any time 9.30. If you would like to have pre-arranged meetings, we can provide a private booth, table and chairs and set up appointments for your requirements. The format of the morning will be a table top exhibition by the supply companies while at the same time a series of pre-arranged meetings with Buyers and Suppliers will take place in an adjoining room. May 2006 - SNS Stand at Subcon UK 2006
Supply Network Shannon exhibited at the recent Subcon UK exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham from May 16tho 18th 2006. Four member companies shared the stand with SNS and gave a very professional image for the Shannon regions sub-contracting capabilities. April 06 - SNS Companies visiting Chinese Trade Fairs
A number of member companies visited exhibitions in Hong Kong and China in April. A group of five companies from the Shannon Region visited the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (www.hkelectronicsfairse.com) and seven visited the Canton Fair in Guangzhou (www.cantonfair.org.cn). SNS made the arrangements for the trip with the kind assistance of Shannon Development, The Irish Exporters Association and Enterprise Ireland (China). 23rdMarch - SNS Eco-Industrial Network Workshop
On Thursday, March 23rd, collaborating SMEs, researchers from the Centre for Environmental Research the Regional Waste Management Authority and SNS held a workshop at the University of Limerick to discuss opportunities identified during the SNS Eco-Industrial Network project. Areas of collaboration included:
  • waste management,
  • transportation,
  • energy projects,
  • shared training,
  • cooperative purchasing and shared services,
  • new business opportunities.

    14 Dec 2005 - SNS Committee Xmas Breakfast meeting
    The combined committees of SNS met for a festive breakfast on Wednesday December 15th. All Committee Members were thanked for their contributions to SNS during the year and a presentation and video of the SNS trip to China was discussed. The Chairman took the opportunity to recognise and thank The Enterprise Research Centre and The Centre for Environmental Research at UL and The Irish Enterprise Division of Shannon Development for their ongoing strong support of SNS by presenting each with a commemmorative plaque.

    UL Consultancy Programme
    University of Limerick and Shannon Development are looking to identify companies with short term consultancy requirements to participate in this programme. The programme offers individuals, small businesses and community groups a consultancy service to identify and solve their business problems. Through the Student Enterprise Centre at the University, small firms may access the resources, managerial expertise and assistance of University of Limerick students at an agreed nominal fee. Typical assignments include preparation of feasibility studies, outline business plans, marketing plans and market research reports. SNS companies may be eligible for a 50% grant towards the EUR1,000 project fees. Click below for further information

    SNS IT Survey Update Nov '05
      Over the summer the University of Limerick carried out a project on behalf of SNS to review best practice in IT for SMEs. With the support of eircom Total ICT a follow on study is now being conducted.     September 14th EPA Grant Deadline
      Please note that the Environmental Protection Agency has invited applications for grant aid for research, including Phase 3 of its Cleaner Greener Production Programme (CGPP). Under CGPP, individual companies can apply to EPA for grant aid for specific projects relating to waste prevention and reduction in both waste and resource usage. Grant aid ranges from 25% to 50% up to a maximum of EUR100,000. Closing date for receipt of application forms is 14 September 2005.

    Supply Network Shannon Projects 2008
      Supply Network Projects 1. Update on collaboration project The SMEcoll project is due to complete in October this year. Funded by Leonardo da Vinci, this project has developed a series of tools to facilitate collaboration between companies both locally and internationally. Pat O’Meara pat@rtrelec.com; (RTR Electronics) participated in the project and set up a collaborative process with his partners in China. Announcement of the FutureSME project FutureSME is a new EU project which is starting in the early Autumn. This is a major project, with six Irish partners, including SNS and 20 partners from other countries. It will develop a business model for SMEs for the next 10 to 15 years. As part of this, it will develop a series of tools to improve strategic planning, productivity, innovation and overall enterprise profitability. As more than 50% of the partners are from industry, the tools developed will be realistic and applicable to small companies. Please contact Denis Kearney. roscam@iol.ie; for further information. A short flyer is available here. Futuresme.pdf 3. Information regarding ECO-Innovation and Eurostars EU programmes a. ECO-Innovation This is targeted at companies that have already developed a prototype environmental product, service, management practice or process, but which is not in the marketplace. ECO – Innovation is designed to overcome barriers to market penetration and turn these products or processes into Europe’s future eco-innovation successes. Proposals in the areas of materials recycling, sustainable buildings, food & drink industrial processes, green buildings, energy conservation and others are encourages. Financial support of up to 60% of total cost is available. Applications from SMEs are particularly encouraged. The next cut-off date for proposals for ECO-Innovation is 11th September 2008. b. Eurostars This research programme is specifically targeted towards SMEs with a research capability. It makes funds available for international collaborative research projects in any area of technology aimed at the development of a new product, process or service. The main partner must be an SME which dedicates at least 10% of its turnover on R&D or has 10% of its full-time staff working in research. Eurostars differs from other EU programmes in that the primary research is carried out by the SME partners with support from other entities.
